5 Best Magnetic Rowing Machines

There may not be a better exercise machine in the world than a rowing machine. There are a couple different styles, but I would like to focus on rowing machines with magnetic resistance. These types of rowers are typically the most silent and typically allow several different levels of resistance. Whilst I don’t think these are the premier type of rowers, they are still fantastic. As a matter of fact, if you read on you will find, what I think are, the five best magnetic rowing machines available.

IMPETUS IA 6800am Air-Magnetic Rower

First up, we have the IMPETUS Air-Magnetic Rower. It’s almost hard to choose where to begin when talking about the brilliance of this rowing machine. The LCD backlit digital computer has everything you need and then some. It displays your speed, distance, calories, pulse, target pulse and constant watt display. There are also 12 built-in programs including heart rate programs, user programs, a manual profile, recovery, body fat and watt training.

The overall feel of the IMPETUS Air-Magnetic Rower is impeccable as well. The deluxe aluminum guide rail gives you the smoothest glide possible and the recoil action is nearly perfect, as well. Another one of my favorite features is the addition of adjustable foot straps to accommodate all feet sizes, as well as the flexibility of the straps. The icing on the cake, though, is that this is a fairly affordable rower. To be honest, it’s hard for me to find any negatives about this rower as it’s one of the best out there.

Lifecore R100 Commercial Rowing Machine

Undoubtedly, the Lifecore R100 Commercial Rowing Machine is an absolute beast. It utilizes an extremely rare combination of both air and Electronic Brake System technology. It has 16 different levels of resistance, meaning you will be able to find a level that suits you best. Technology wise, it actually surpasses the IMPETUS Air-Magnetic Rower with 15 challenging programs to go through. Your friends can have separate data on it as well as it can store up to four people’s data.

This rower is more than a glorified software program, though. You can tell that it was built focused on comfort with its ergonomically designed handle and seat, angled footrests, and pivoted heel supports. However, the Lifecore R100 is truly a beast because of its aluminum frame with solid steel support. This frame can hold an astonishing 600 pounds, which is one of the highest capacities I have ever seen for a rowing machine.

Velocity Exercise Magnetic Rower

One of the more unique magnetic rowing machines available is the Velocity Exercise Magnetic Rower. It actually combines Drum Magnetic Control with electronic tension control. This produces the perfect amount of friction when you are using this rower and will completely enhance your endurance. The aluminum frame is also incredibly sturdy, while the machine uses its nylon belt to be whisper quiet.

The monitor on this rowing machine is not quite as advanced as some of the others, but it still has an eloquent LCD display that shows all of the essentials you need: time, pulse, calories burnt, etc. Plus, it also features 12 programs and a built-in heart rate receiver with a chest strap. One of the only downsides to this rower is it has a maximum capacity of 275 pounds, much lower than some of the other elite rowers.

Stamina Avari Programmable Magnetic Exercise Rower

I have found that Stamina is always a good choice when choosing rowing machines. They really have a knack for making superb rowers and the Avari Programmable Magnetic Exercise Rower is no exception. While you’re exercising on this machine, it chooses between seven preset programs of resistance to maximize your workout with zero interruptions. The LCD backlit digital computer is also a huge plus as it includes 12 workout programs to go through, as well as displaying strokes per minute, pulse and watt, count, distance, calories, and time.

Another really cool feature that I love is the chest strap. You can actually use it for any one of the 12 programs, but it definitely works best when you are using the target heart rate program. Probably the best aspect to this rower, though, is that you can actually find it for a decent price. Unfortunately, some of the best rowing machines are also some of the most expensive. However, you don’t have to break your bank with this one.

Sunny Health & Fitness ASUNA 4500 Magnetic Rowing Machine

The Sunny Health & Fitness ASUNA Rowing Machine is extremely similar to the Velocity Exercise Magnetic Rower as it has many of the same features. This machine also has 12 built-in programs for you to enjoy, an LCD display that provides all of the essentials, a chest strap to monitor your heart, and Drum Magnetic Control and electronic tension to provide various resistance levels.

You are probably asking yourself if there are any differences between this rower and the Velocity. The only major difference, as both offer great comfort as well, is the fact that the Sunny Health & Fitness ASUNA Rower allows for up to 300 pounds. While only a 25-pound difference, this one accounts for you if you are between 275-300 pounds.

There are quite a few of these types of machines available, but I think these are the five best. Out of all of the five, I would recommend the Lifecore R100 Commercial Rowing Machine out of all of them. However, be aware that this is one of the most expensive ones out there. Trust me, though, the quality is definitely worth it. If you didn’t want the price tag to go with that one, though, then the other four are all tremendous as well. Everybody has different preferences, so just make sure you get the rower that suits you best. I am hoping that if you didn’t know before this read, you do now!
